the book was short, to the point, and contained exactly what was billed. I am often ( 40-50% ) surprised at tthe reviews given by people who have obviously failed to read the book description BEFORE purchasing. They even say such things ” too much sex not enough plot, debases wemon, bdsm was too graphic, unbelievable that any women would do that”. One women even said she KNEW no women could climax five times in a single night. I have personaly known women who would consider five nothing more than foreply.I found several such reviews cocerning this book. The book is exactly what it was descrbed as being; a fun romp for those interested in ( or curious about ) bdsm. The erotica category is not a selection of literary genious; just fun for the couch, bed, ect. The Contract delivered such entertainment.

First off: if you’re a writer of “erotica” and you don’t know how to correctly spell the word “come”, that tells me a great deal about your education in the world of erotic writing.

Not that this is terribly surprising from someone whose book is crammed full of stilted, formal dialogue and odd bits of explication that make this read more like someone was trying to write a textbook (but make it hip and accessible) rather than a piece of fiction.

As well, there are odd little snatches that just don’t make sense. Given that the male in this scenario is the dom and the female is the sub, once you get past a certain point in their relationship, the phrase “To his surprise…” really shouldn’t appear anywhere in the narrative, especially if you’re (“you” here being “the author”) making a point of letting us know that the sub in question is extremely easy to read.

Given a few sessions with an extremely aggressive editor, the author might have here the first few chapters of a workable novel. What we have here, on the other hand, is very much still in rough draft form. * ½

I’m not sure what the other reviewers were reading as I did not see a grammar issue within the pages. I minored
in English so I am fairly certain I would have caught something. A professional editor is always welcome, but again
nothing strikes as poorly written. That being said I loved the two main characters and the brief D/s and BDSM style contract
that they get into. I liked the note at the end that stated this was a work of fiction and to not use it as a guide for
your own sub relationship. The sex scenes were hot and nicely done and I like the build up to the relationship. Looking forward
to reading the next in the series! Great story by Tonya!

    Something is missing…, November 24, 2010

Based on all of the raving reviews, it is clear that reading the prior books in the series is helpful to enjoy this book. Unfortunately, I did not know this before reading this book.

The book seemed to tease the reader right from the start with no real plot. The one-sided passion and constant chasing from Keely was draining. The reader continues to wait… and wait…and wait… for the final moment of passion and ecstasy.

This was not an enjoyable read and was a bit of a let down. Slow Ride: A Rough Riders story did not entice me into wanting to read more books from this series.

This short story was an unexpected treat. If you’re a fan of Rough Riders then you will love this. I think Ms James did a wonderful job taking us into the beginning of Keeley and Jack’s life together. If you haven’t read any of the series then try this. I’m sure it will make you curious to learn more about the McKay clan. My favorite book was Cowgirl Up and Ride, so I really enjoyed reading more about those characters in this story too. Lorelei can you give us some more of this? Loved it!

Keely & Jack are 2 of my favorite characters in the McKay Family series. I was so happy to get a glimpse into their wedding. This story gives a taste of Lorelei James writing. Hot, funny and the family scenes are spot on.

The scene where Carson dances with his daughter, Keely, was both touching and telling. His wild-child only daughter has grown up into a beautiful, smart woman.

If you are not familiar with this series, try this story….you will be hooked
