Tangled Beauty

Tangled Beauty

Sinclair Jeffries thought she knew what she was getting into when her zany, gay friend, Jesse Eddington, talked her into portraying his girlfriend during his parent’s anniversary party on Huntington Beach. That is, until she met Reed, Jesse’s sexy as hell older brother, and ends up getting much more than what she’d bargained for.

Reed Eddington assumed his future was settled until he met Sinclair, his brother’s so-called “girlfriend”, but the raw, sexual tension between them is hard

This story has all this great build up to what you think is going to be this hot explosive connection between Sin and Reed and then you are just totally let down by the less than satisfying ending. While I loved the idea of the story line…Sinclair ‘Sin’ is helping out her best ‘gay’ guy friend by posing as his girlfriend at his parents anniversary party. Then she meets the irresistible but unavailable older brother, Reed, and even though she’s suppose to be dating the brother and Reed has a fiancee, sparks start flying. Lots of sexual tension and stolen moments that heat up the situation and lots of family drama to boot. All of this I loved. Then there’s the whole stalker element, which I could take or leave. My biggest complaint about this story is it has all this build up and then it just fizzles and dies, and you are left feeling like “That’s it! That’s how the story ends. That is NOT a satisfying ending AT ALL!” You have these two great characters that you so want to be together and I just want to rewrite the ending of this book. And I want to kill off the stalker in a really gruesome and terrible way.

Tangled Beauty was a fast paced, fun, steamy, thriller of a read. Sinclair is a hair dresser, sorry, stylist, with a gay best friend and a stalker. One good. One not so good. Sinclair agrees to go with the gay best friend, Jesse to his parent s anniversary party. Jesse has not told his crazy parents he is gay and apparently no one told them they are supposed to act like parents. The dad is a creepy old man who diddles anyone who is willing. Enter Reed, sexy older brother and is not so nice fiancé, Next up is skinny dipping, close encounters in the shower, stalkers and sexy stolen moments.

I started this book a couple weeks ago and had to put it down to read some other books I had committed to finish. I was actually upset because I was just getting to a charged, flirtatious scene between Sinclair and her “boyfriend’s” brother, Reed. I really wanted to see how the story would go from there. There was definite chemistry and attraction radiating from those pages.

Fast forward to now… and I’ve finished the book. And I hate to say it, but I’m not as excited about it as I was when I first started it. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it! But it just didn’t live up to those first few chapters. Sinclair and Reed definitely had good chemistry. And Jesse was hilarious! He was protective of Sinclair, but also was a bit raunchy about it too. Jesse trying to act “straight” was very funny. And then throw in a horny old man/step-father, prude of a mother and a bitchy model fiancé of Reed’s and the conversations were very exciting.

With a devilish smile, he removed his jacked and crawled towards me. “You’re mine, tonight, Sinclair,” he said. “Face it.”

Sinclair!!! Lady, what’s wrong with you?? Face it and love it!!!

Sinclair and Reed’s flirtations are what made the book. The innuendo, flirtations and downright seduction were definitely hot! But I just felt like later on in the book it kind of took a weird turn that didn’t flow right for me. All of a sudden I felt like I was reading a crime thriller. I could have definitely rolled with that, but it just felt too rushed and didn’t leave time for a proper finish for Reed and Sinclair. I would have loved to read more of them!

I rate this book 3.5 stars. 4 stars for the relationship of Reed and Sinclair, but 3 stars for the weird turn it took towards the end of the book.
