Saltwater Kisses: A Billionaire Love Story

Saltwater Kisses- Can anything taste sweeter than love?

When small-town girl Emma LaRue won a vacation to an exclusive tropical island, a last minute cancellation meant she would be going by herself. Shy and studious, she never had time to fall in love, and often wondered if she was just meant to be alone. However, that all changed when a handsome stranger literally walked into her life while on the beach and sparks began to fly.

“Saltwater Kisses” is a fresh take on a familiar theme. Author Krista Lakes seems to know this genre in and out and hits all the right buttons, creating a story that anyone who loves romantic novels will enjoy. Often with these types of stories, the author includes a lot of cheesy dialogue and situations that just aren’t believable. That is not the case with this story. While the idea of the “average” girl landing a billionaire is a bit of a far-fetched dream, Lakes does make the characters seem believable and their situations plausible. If you’re looking for a well-written book with interesting characters, snappy dialogue, and some steamy love scenes, you need look no further. It’s all here. Recommended.

Emma is from a small town in Iowa and wants to be a veterinarian. Jack is a billionaire, lives in New York and will be taking over his father’s business. Their lives couldn’t be any more different. But, when they meet and spend some time together, they find out they have a lot in common. Emma goes to New York and is thrown into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. She can have anything she wants, except to live a normal life with the man she loves.

This is a fun story and to read, with some pretty hot sex scenes. There are some grammatical and spelling errors, but not enough to take away from the storyline. If you’re looking for something to read this summer, this would be a great choice.

Some spoilers may follow…The author really had a great opportunity to write a much better story and missed it. The story starts out good, but falls flat at the end. There are way too many unresolved issues that just leave the reader hanging and wondering. To me, it would have been a much better story if Jack was forced to choose between the company and Emma. We just don’t know if that is the case, but would any woman really marry the guy if she loved him that much and was forced to only see him at dinner and he spent every night sleeping in his office? Maybe those issues resolve after the company transfer is complete and he may have more time for her? What about her just not feeling like she belongs in New York? We never find out. Jack’s parents don’t seem to want Emma around. How does this issue resolve itself? We never find out. This story had a lot of potential, but was just too short for my taste. At least it was free.
