Powder of Sin

Powder of Sin

Wealthy heiress Rosalie Ambermere doesn’t know why Gideon Reed sits scowling in her sitting room. Or why she finds him so appealing. She’d envisioned her heart falling to a serene gentleman, not to this unpolished, brooding man. And yet she finds Mr. Reed absurdly attractive. Surely her craving for his touch is due to the strange powder she recently inherited from her rakehell cousin. When Gideon offers to help her find a way to dispose of the aphrodisiac, she agrees. Best to be rid of the powde

A chemical that can induce sexual excitement without coherent thought. Rosalie never would have thought such a chemical substance existed until she inherited it!

Now she must figure out how to get rid of it safely while making sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
Like Walter’s hands, who is basically a rapist.

Luckily Gideon is more than happy to help Rosalie figure out how to get rid of the stuff. Unfortunately for him he finds out first hand the power of the small box.

This is a tale of love and lust, and how people try to figure out the difference when there are other powers at play.

Overall a very enjoyable read and a solid five stars.

Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat. I did not intend to get sucked into this book like I did. It is part of what I call Romance Comics, and I just don’t care about the genre that much. However, this one is particularly wonderful in the same kind of way Rocky Horror Picture Show is particularly wonderful. It never takes itself too seriously. Equal parts camp and well written details, this saucy tail is sure to amuse and possibly even arouse.

Within the first 5 minutes I was laughing hysterically at the descriptions of proper English Gentlemen and Ladies losing control over exposure to what I can only assume is high end Spanish Fly. When you say it like that, it doesn’t sound nearly as good as what it actually is. For some reason, this is a hit. Don’t think about it too much, just let the awesomeness wash over you. From here the characters develop into people you would actually want to meet. The erotica comes off with much less fromage (cheese) than one would expect for a historical erotic fiction.

The Powder of Sin is a pleasant and enjoyable surprise. If you buy books to be entertained, Kate Rothwell delivers.

I was immediately pulled into this book because of the manner in which it was written. I liked the style and the little snippets of humor. The sex scenes towards the beginning were what you might find in a slightly saucier than normal romance novel, but towards the end of the book it surprised even me how graphic the sex scenes had become. Not that I minded… Much.

Still an excellent book, well written with hilariously unique characters. One that I will keep in my reading list so I can read it again at a later date.
