The title tells it all about these stories, most of which run through the BDSM tropes as foreplay for straight ahead sex. There’s not much character development, which leaves many of them feeling kind of thin. More of a sticking point for me was that there was not much ritual or imagination in the worst of them, not even “Shades of Grey” level. The later stories in the book, for some reason, were a little better than those in the first half. They were pretty much standard genre stuff, but a tad better written. More consistency would be needed for this to get a better rating.

Some stories better than others, June 14, 2015

I overall enjoyed this book. It has a collection of varied stories, primarily with the common BDSM theme. Many of the stories are really good – the stories are hot because they involve domination and creative BDSM. The context of the stories were different (couples, same-sex experiences, groups), so you weren’t sure what was happening next. Some stories seem like they are about unwanted sex, but the endings tell a different story.

Some of the stories are creative (strange Christmas traditions), some are the kinds that have been told time and time again (teacher punishing a student).

There are enough stories in this book so it’ll take you a decent amount of time to read it, which is nice, especially for a free Kindle Unlimited book. If you can get this for free on Kindle Unlimited, I recommend it. I’m not as sure I’d recommend it if I had to pay for it.

There are two major problems with this collection:
    – Many of the stories seem like teasers. For example, they give you a snippet of a story and leave you wanting to know more. Character development is weak, and it seems like there are is a lot more to some of the stories that we aren’t being told. I get it – if we like a story, we’ll theoretically buy more books from that author, but I wanted a little more, even from short story samples.
    – The stories decline as the book goes on. I think the strongest stories are towards the beginning and middle, and the end leaves something to be desired. It would be better if the weaker stories are mixed in or eliminated.
