Well, actually I paid a buck for Book 1. But the style of writing is similar to another book I loved (Typist Working for the Billionaire: bad title, awesome book). The difference is I got my HEA with that book at 4 bux; so if it’s true there are going to be 7 or 8 installments, I’ll be 20 bux in with no resolution in sight. Also I’m impatient.

Frankly I’m surprised at the lack of outrage that we are being bled dry by this current trend of “installments”, a practice perpetuated by one-click shopping and the Kindle device. I know, I know, no one’s pointing a gun to my head, which is why I may (not)let my finger do the talking, quit at book 3 and create in my mind Connor and Lily’s big relationship-threatening conflict, along with a nice tidy resolution. Like phone sex, supremely unsatisfying, but… There’s tons of other great installment-type reads out there including Shaina Richmond’s Safe With Me that don’t make me feel like the doofus working at the office at 7pm on a Friday night while the entire office is out having a good time.

Now, Connor and Lily: I initially found it hard to suspend disbelief that Connor could find “cute” Lily attractive. I like my characters a little more evenly matched. But then I mentally placed a shorter Jennifer Lawrence and a deeper John Hamm in the leads, problem solved. Olivia Thorne is a writer of the first order. Cojones (not cajones), nauseated (not nauseous), wringing (not ringing) were all in proper use (OK, I’m nerdy like Lily).

The dialogue is sparkling, the secondary characters hilarious, the H is dreamy and the sex scenes divine (oops, I just dropped an ovary).

So although I loved the story, my struggle is trying to find justification for a 20-25 dollar “installment” book. Oh, who am I kidding, I’ll be buying book 4, but the closer I get to that 20 dollar mark, the less inclined I’ll be to mouse over that “Buy Now with 1-Click” button. Whatever happened to traditional books that had a beginning, middle and end? Oh silly me, dollar signs, of course.

To be reading the author comments at the end of book four and find out that she has no clue as to how and when she will finish up the series!!! And wait, there’s more…. the author has announced she is starting another series before finishing up this one! LOL

I am completely flabbergasted. This really takes the cake for me to be reading an author that is so comfortable with releasing a story in this fashion.

Although I am enjoying the story very much, I personally cannot recommend it to anyone at this time. Once again, I feel that I have been duped by an author that has taken my money for only a partial product. That’s like buying half a car now – a car that is useless until the other half is completed.

I am seriously annoyed and recommend that you wait for the story to be finished before starting it. I just finished the fourth book and the author says she has no idea how many more installments she will be writing as of this date. That gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling. NOT.

Very good quick read. Even though short, gets into good detail and really builds the characters. Very hot scenes. Makes you want to be Lily!
